Shock! NST takes advantage of old lady!

NST takes a stand! Err…really? Again?
Pretending to have balls by using an old ladyIn an unusual departure from its daily offerings of tripe and codswollop, the NotStraitsTimes on Monday left readers astounded by asking that Aung Sang Suu Kyi be freed. Maybe.

But first you must get over an ambiguous opening statement with the words Aung San Suu Kyi should not be freed, leaving you in doubt about what they are really trying to do when they say later on that she should be freed.

Burma is a few miles away, and the monsters of SLORC the military junta don't read much of anything. SLORC don't even read UN Resolutions, let alone the NotStraitsTimes. So a safe enough subject for the NST, giving readers the appearance of NST having something to say in its editorials, without upsetting their masters too much. They didn't ask Malaysia to take any action. Just taking to empty air.

Nothing is said about Malaysia's double-dealings on Burma, the military cooperation with SLORC, or the wretchedness of our foreign policy that pretends everything is hunky-dory where atrocities take place, except in the Palestinian territories.

What the prime minister didOn this blog on Sunday
So, just normal double-talk by the NotStraitsTimes then, doing things for appearances' sake and earning corporate brownie-points for well-practised brown-nosers.
Pity Aung San Suu Kyi even more for being thus abused. It's as bad as being raped by the NST. (And they've done this often enough in the past.)
The NST's everyday insipidity and duplicity will resume shortly, I suppose, once the St John Ambulance has revived the one or two of the remaining gomen-wallah subscribers overwhelmed by emotion.
